Sunday, October 26, 2025 — Miami: Reflections on Art, Friendship, and the Power to Uplift

Artist Jessica de Vreeze explores how art uplifts and connects us — how friends hot yoga and 5 K can uplift and invites you to join Unchained Mothering’s 5K Walk for empowerment and community.

Today, I’ll start by thanking Kristen G. for not giving up on her invitation to join her at Yoga Joint for a 9:30 a.m. FIIT class in Downtown Miami 🧘‍♀️🔥

My daughters — and especially Jaimie — have invited me countless times before, and to be honest, I can count the number of sport classes I’ve attended since May 2023 on less than ten fingers! (Except for my one-on-one workouts with Sensei Carol White 💪).

I needed it. I wanted it. And as always, I needed a good friend to hold my hand through it. So thank you, Kristen, for that. 🤍

✨ The Significance of Art in Our Time

Art has always been the mirror through which humanity recognizes itself.

But today, in a world that moves faster than our hearts can follow, art does more than reflect — it uplifts, empowers, and reconnects us to what is most human.

For me, creating is not about me alone. It’s about transformation and sharing.

Art has the power to bring out the best in people — to awaken their senses, their memories, their courage. It reminds us that every individual holds a story worth telling, that beauty exists even in contradiction, and that emotions are not weaknesses but bridges between souls.

When I photograph or paint, I seek that invisible dialogue between people and places — the fleeting moment when energy, light, and presence align. My work traces those unseen connections: how a wall bears the imprint of a passerby, how a shadow carries a memory, how color becomes emotion.

Through my nonprofit, Unchained Mothering, I explore how art can give voice to the invisible labor of women — the quiet strength that sustains families, communities, and even nations. Too often, these stories are untold, their impact underestimated. Through portraiture and storytelling, we honor these lives not as side notes, but as essential pillars of our collective history.

In this sense, art is not a luxury — it’s a necessity.

It teaches us to pause, to observe, to feel more deeply. It reminds us that despite all our differences, we share a common emotional language — the language of light, form, rhythm, and movement.

The role of the artist is not just to create beauty but to ignite awareness, to invite others to see differently. My journey from law to art was not a rejection of reason but a return to intuition — to the inner truth that creation is an act of freedom.

The same freedom that allows a mother to reinvent herself, a city to rediscover its soul, or a viewer to find new meaning in an image.

Art, in its purest form, is not about escape — it’s about presence.

It’s the way we remember who we are, and the way we dream of what we could become.

In a time when so much divides us, I hope my work can be a small act of togetherness — a reminder that beauty, love, and resilience are not abstract ideas, but living forces within us all.

And speaking of togetherness — I’d love to invite you to join us with Unchained Mothering on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 7:30 a.m. for the Give Miami 5K Walk or Run! 🏃‍♀️💫

A shout-out to Lauren Strock for challenging me to think it through and write about it! 🩵

This past week — and honestly, the past few months — have been intense.

Sometimes you just need to accept helping hands when they come your way, at the right moment.

And a gentle reminder: not everything we live is posted on social media, and we don’t always have the “right” image of ourselves.

Today, I heard again of a young, beautiful woman saying she found herself “too fat.”

It reminded me of myself — when I was a size XS, thinking the same.

It’s time to realize how beautiful we are in every size, because in the end, when we are healthy, the rest is mostly in our heads. 💭💖

With Love and Light,

About Hopeje

It’s all about love, life, and the pursuit of happiness. I’m a French-American woman from Paris — born with a suitcase in hand and a heart open to adventure. I’ve always been drawn to the vibrant energy of New York and Miami, visiting every year for a few weeks to recharge on their rhythm, sunshine, and sense of freedom. Who would have thought that life would take me to Luxembourg — where I would find, lose, and find myself again? There, I met the love of my life, built a family with three wonderful children, and traveled… endlessly. (Let’s not forget our loyal dog, who became part of our journey in 2013, and our second furry companion who joined us nearly three years ago!) From Paris to New York, Luxembourg to Miami — traveling has become our middle name. What I love most is discovering the poetry and energy of life wherever I go: architecture, people, customs, places, and the unique atmosphere that makes each encounter unforgettable. Life is a story of movement, emotion, and discovery. Let’s keep exploring, dreaming, and savoring every moment. PS: All content on this blog is shared with pleasure — but it is not free of rights.
