The start of women’s month!
These Past Days — Between the Visible and the Invisible
This week has been full — behind the scenes and in front of our eyes, in private moments and in public spaces.
More than ever, I found myself juggling friendship commitments, family duties, artistic work, community meetings, administration, and learning — as I continued taking a class alongside everything else. There was also the quiet joy of meaningful work, including a beautiful interview for Unchained Mothering with Coconut Grove Miami, reminding me once again why this project exists: to give visibility to stories that so often remain unseen.

Interview by the Coconut Grove magazine
In the midst of it all came a five-day reset diet, Shabbat — always a pause that recenters everything — and the feeling that history itself may be shifting toward a possibility of freedom and peace in the foreseeable future, even while immense courage and sacrifice are still required from those living at the very center of the cyclone.
This week also placed us, as participants and witness beautifully, at the heart of the 135th anniversary of the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove — honoring the legacy of six women who, at a time when they held almost no rights on paper, created change powerful enough to ripple across generations and reach us today, and what it became to this day.

Their courage felt deeply present.
Another moment of pride came with three awards received by the Juniorette Club of Coconut Grove — a club I helped my daughters found, and in which all three of my children have taken part since its creation, alongside more than fifty teenagers over the past three years. Watching young leaders grow into responsibility and purpose remains one of the most hopeful experiences I know.
And already, the coming week calls again.
Two artist talks I am very much looking forward to will take place this Wednesday, March 5 at Miami International Fine Arts (MIFA), (in English and in French) followed by an opening night on Thursday, March 6. At the same time, Women’s Month has begun — a moment especially meaningful for Unchained Mothering and for everything I believe art can help illuminate.

This weekend, these reflections naturally connected with one of the works currently on view:
Through the Screen
Strong Perceptions Make Reality — People Make Places
For years, many of us have witnessed events unfolding on the other side of the world — through screens, headlines, and fragments of reality.
Even when one has stood closer to these places, true understanding remains complex. Distance teaches humility: we cannot fully know what others live through each day.
What we can do is stand in solidarity with those who hope for freedom, dignity, and safety — women and men who dream simply of living freely, raising their children in peace, and shaping their own future.
The freedom of women, their empowerment, and the value given to their role in society remain central to my artistic practice and to my engagement through Unchained Mothering, whose mission is to honor women’s and mothers’ visible and invisible contributions.
History sometimes shifts quietly.
Sometimes suddenly.
We may be living through one of those moments.
Today, my thoughts and prayers are with all those longing for freedom — and with all of us, because our humanity remains deeply connected.
