We did it! Miami Give 5K — And the News of the Race!
11 of us ran. 1 supported.
Mothers, women, husbands, children, friends — Unchained Mothering showed up.
And we didn’t just show up…
we made it on the podium.
🥇 Kristen Grimberg — First Place Winner
Mother of four.
Our Unchained Mothering Ambassador for the race.
She pushed herself with extraordinary strength, and on our very first participation placed Unchained Mothering on the podium with a 1st place win in her category.
When people show up, everything changes. Shout out to Adria and her family, Pooja, Lauren, Kristen and her family, my husband Menno and son Victor and me! OMG a 5 K wobbling between walking and running filming and interviewing live without training nor sleep! I m happy 🤣. ( put my time so you see how long it took me 🫣😅😂🙌).
Today, we showed up for mothers — and you can help us continue this work.
Call to Support — I SEE YOU, MOTHERS SHAPE THE WORLD
Your donations help us film, document, preserve, and elevate the stories of women and mothers across generations.
Help us finish the year strong:
Your generosity today directly fuels our Art Basel exhibition, our documentary, our book, and our empowerment workshops.

I SEE YOU — MOTHERS SHAPE THE WORLD
We celebrate — through art — the often unseen work of women as mothers.
We honor women’s choices, making them visible, valued, and free in how they shape future generations.
Mothering
Noun:
The act of raising a child as a mother.
Adjective:
Qualities of a mother — caring, protective, and kind.
Realize your dreams for yourself and for humanity.
Through art, we bring attention to the profound contributions of women as mothers, empowering them to explore and express their fullest potential.
Our Initiatives
We host art exhibitions showcasing women’s stories through installation, dance, photography, writing, poetry, painting, sculpture, film, and even martial arts.
We also host empowerment events designed to uplift and inspire — workshops, mentorship, and community gatherings.
MISSION
Unchained Mothering is a nonprofit organization 501 (c) 3 founded by Jessica de Vreeze to make the invisible visible — the emotional, physical, creative, and intellectual labor that shapes families, communities, and society.
Through art, photography, storytelling, workshops, and community gatherings, we give voice to mothers — their strength, their identities, their journeys, and all the unseen work society relies on but rarely acknowledges.
Our empowerment programming includes self-defense workshops, vision-board and wish-making sessions, creative community events, mentorship programs, and activities built to uplift and strengthen women and families.
We are a home where women and artists come together to say:
“Be the woman you want to be, become the mother you choose to be.”
Our programs are open to every gender; our artists come from all nationalities; our stories honor women from every background.
Together, stronger — always.
We exist to remind the world that mothers shape the world, and that their contributions deserve recognition, respect, and visibility.
Today and always:
I see you.
We see you.
You are visible.
You matter.
