Most of the advice people give is true for them, in a certain moment, from a certain perspective. The problem is that life is rarely that simple.
People always say:
Be consistent. It will pay off.
Trust. What is meant for you will find you.
When it is supposed to happen, it will happen effortlessly.
Work hard. Nothing comes without sacrifice.
Manifest it.
Persevere.
Believe.
Let go.
Push harder.
Rest more.
Be kinder to yourself.
Look at everything you’ve accomplished.
You should do this.
You should do that.
People say so many things.
And the more I experience life, the more I realize that most of these statements contain a piece of truth—and a piece of illusion.
Some things in my life happened because I worked relentlessly for them. Others arrived only after I stopped forcing them.
Some dreams required discipline. Others required surrender.
Some opportunities appeared because I knocked on a hundred doors. Others came through a door I didn’t even know existed.
There are moments when consistency matters.
Moments when perseverance matters.
Moments when trusting matters.
Moments when letting go matters.
The challenge is that no one can tell us which moment we are in.
We have to feel our way through it.
Perhaps wisdom is not choosing between effort and trust.
Perhaps it is learning to live with both.
To work as though it depends on us.
To accept as though it doesn’t.
To keep showing up without becoming attached to the outcome.
To celebrate what has already been built while remaining open to what has not yet arrived.
Today, I don’t have a grand conclusion.
Only a question.
What do you think? What is your modus operandi?
