Today marks four years since the creation of Unchained Mothering, and three years since the organization became an official 501(c)(3).
It is also International Women’s Day.
The coincidence feels meaningful.
Unchained Mothering was born from a simple but powerful realization: so much of what holds our societies together—care, dedication, emotional labor, creativity, resilience—often remains invisible.
Many of these contributions come from women, and very often from mothers.
Yet they are rarely fully recognized for what they truly are:
acts of strength, of leadership, of creation.
Through art, storytelling, and collaboration, Unchained Mothering was created to help bring that invisible work into the light.
Over the past four years, the project has grown thanks to an extraordinary community of women, artists, collaborators, and supporters who believed in its purpose.
Women whose lives and stories inspire the work.
Artists who transform those stories into visual language.
Supporters who help open doors, build bridges, and create opportunities for these conversations to exist.
What began as an idea has become something much more collective.
Unchained Mothering is not one person.
It is all of us.
Together we are building a space where the contributions of women—visible and invisible—can be acknowledged, reflected upon, and celebrated.
On this Women’s Day, I invite everyone to take a moment.
If you are a woman,
take a moment to honor yourself and all that you contribute to the world.
If you are not,
take a moment to honor the women in your life.
Their presence, their work, their care, and their creativity shape our families, our communities, and our future.
Today we celebrate four years of Unchained Mothering, but more importantly, we celebrate the women whose stories continue to give this project its meaning.
With gratitude to everyone who has been part of this journey.
