Finding Calm in Motion

A week between cities and responsibilities, creativity and family, exhaustion and gratitude. From Vegas to LA to Miami, from exhibitions to Shabbat, from lists to sunsets—learning to slow down, prioritize, and trust the rhythm of life. One step at a time, with faith, love, and perseverance.

Here is your text gently corrected and polished for grammar and flow, while fully keeping your voice, rhythm, and meaning:

Sunday, February 15, 2026

I am very grateful for the past week. These trips sometimes feel surreal, as they come after so much work and preparation—while also keeping a bubble of calm around Shabbat time.

After Vegas, we went to Los Angeles for two nights and one day! The next day was all about traveling 🧭. So close, and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to visit my sister and her family. After five days, and thanks to the Shabbat break, my energy slowly came back.

LA also meant time for me to take photos. I love the light at sunset and the nature there. By the way, the light in Vegas is gorgeous too, but I had less time to pull out my camera.

We also spent dinner with family and a dear friend of my sister, whom I’ve known since he was 14 years old. He created a beautiful line of perfumes and candles, The Hellenist. More than a scent, it’s a whole story inspired by Greek mythology and beyond.

Well, if you know me, you may know that by the age of seven I had read The Odyssey, a book of Greek mythology, probably eight times! I even learned some Ancient Greek when I was ten years old.

Then back to Miami. I worked the whole plane ride and made a list of everything that had to be done before the end of March. Head spinning—that’s a fact.

So what’s the best thing to do when you are exhausted and overwhelmed? Stop everything.

I had the voice of my dear Sashie in my head: “It is the best time to just stop.” But sometimes, you simply can’t stop. So I slowed down and prioritized.

I really need to hire more help for myself as an artist and for Unchained Mothering—but it’s coming. I’m working on it.

So, what did I do this week?

On Wednesday, I had planned not to work. I knew I would be exhausted. I spent my day on the phone, catching up, Instagramming, walking our dog, and picking up our son at the beach.

Thursday was about work, kids, and home needing me. I watched Bridgerton and made a whisky sour.

Friday, I was at MIFA most of the day, where I held a private tour for someone special who came all the way from Chile and did not want to miss the show. I was so honored.

Then I headed home, prepared for Shabbat, and hosted a dinner for seven that turned into ten. I got a light wax burn on my arm, finger, and a tiny bit on my face. Everyone was very kind, and I ended up not doing very much while my hand stayed in an ice bucket for the rest of the evening.

I was so calm that it almost went unnoticed—until I asked my neighbors to do this or that, or even cut the meat for me 😂.

Saturday: walk, synagogue, and reading Tant mieux by Amélie Nothomb—a masterpiece. Now I know how I’ll write to her.

Sunday: since I started eating gluten again, I may have overindulged with challah and sourdough—made by my friend Lauren—“just a sprinkle a day”… OMG.

Hubby has throat pain. One daughter is overworked. The other is having a great time at Carnaval in Holland—they really know how to celebrate. Best in the world (haven’t tried Brazil yet).

And this morning: 75% of a bar of divine Cécile chocolate.

And here it is—my Sunday blog.

Work is starting again this afternoon. I need to refocus on time, one step at a time. I’m trying to remind myself to trust, without collapsing on my pillow. We still need to act.

The only downside of this light burn is that I need to stay away from the sun—just as it is shining again in Miami.

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday and a beautiful start to the week 🤍

With love and light,

Jessica

Last story to reflect upon read in a Paulo C 📕 a man was with the man he was working for traveling in the wilderness on horse back! The man said to the apprentice : you need to have faith that G will protect and provide for you! Then he asked him to attach the horses for the night! The apprentice thought ! That’s it I won’t attach the horses I have to have faith that G will protect us and them. In the morning the man ask the apprentice to bring back the horses 🐎 so they can live! As the apprentice goes he can’t find them, they have left! He comes and explain the situation to the man! Saying I was trusting G to watch over us ! And the man reply, well your hands were the tool he was using to do so! You had to attach the horses 🐎

About Hopeje

It’s all about love, life, and the pursuit of happiness. I’m a French-American woman from Paris — born with a suitcase in hand and a heart open to adventure. I’ve always been drawn to the vibrant energy of New York and Miami, visiting every year for a few weeks to recharge on their rhythm, sunshine, and sense of freedom. Who would have thought that life would take me to Luxembourg — where I would find, lose, and find myself again? There, I met the love of my life, built a family with three wonderful children, and traveled… endlessly. (Let’s not forget our loyal dog, who became part of our journey in 2013, and our second furry companion who joined us nearly three years ago!) From Paris to New York, Luxembourg to Miami — traveling has become our middle name. What I love most is discovering the poetry and energy of life wherever I go: architecture, people, customs, places, and the unique atmosphere that makes each encounter unforgettable. Life is a story of movement, emotion, and discovery. Let’s keep exploring, dreaming, and savoring every moment. PS: All content on this blog is shared with pleasure — but it is not free of rights.
