Today is Sunday, and tonight Yom Kippur will begin.
This year, more than ever, this day feels to me like an opportunity to embrace a new self — not by erasing the past, but by taking its lessons with us so that we can grow into the future.
The fast itself gives us the opportunity to step away, for a moment, from our material worries and daily distractions, and to focus instead on our spiritual connection — with ourselves, with others, and with G.
Yom Kippur is a day of reflection, forgiveness, accountability and renewal. We look honestly at the year behind us, at what we could have done differently, at those we may have hurt, intentionally or unintentionally, offer sincere apologies, and reflect on what we want to carry forward — and what we are ready to leave behind — always striving to learn, grow, and do better in the year ahead.
For those who are not Jewish, perhaps these few words offer a small window into the meaning of this very special day.
And to all those observing Yom Kippur, I wish you a meaningful and easy fast, surrounded by peace and safety — free from fear, hatred, and antisemitism. May every Jewish person be able to pray, gather and observe this sacred day without worry.
