If I could live anywhere in the world, it’s both a difficult and an easy question. So I’ll give three answers.
First, I would choose to live close to my family—my children, my parents, and my friends. The challenge is that we’re all scattered across different countries. So rather than one specific place, I’d choose a city with easy access to a major international airport, making it easier to stay connected with the people I love. In that sense, Miami is a perfect match. (NYC was more central but Miami is on the right time zone, and the airport is faster to reach)
If there were no practical considerations and it were just for a while, I would choose Italy. I’ve always loved the country, and it’s also the land of my ancestors. It’s relatively close to my family and friends in Europe, and I would love for my husband, our dog, and hopefully our children to spend a few months there together. Again, having Miami as our home base makes that dream very possible.
In the end, though, Miami is home. It’s where we’ve built our life, and I love living here. For me, the ideal balance is to keep Miami as home while traveling often and spending meaningful time with family. That combination feels just right.
